HOH.JPGThe Mission Inn Foundation, incorporated in 1976, was established to preserve, interpret and promote the cultural heritage of the Mission Inn, and the surrounding southern California communities through its museum services, educational programs, and outreach activities.  On February, 23, 2018 the Mission Inn Foundation is hosting their signature event, Up, Up and Away, celebrating 100 years of shared history between March Field and the Mission Inn Hotel. This year we are excited to be hosting the event at the historic March Field Air Museum.

In 1917, Frank Miller, the Mission Inn Hotel’s owner, and other Riverside leaders actively campaigned to establish an air field in the city of Riverside.  In 1918, the U.S. Army Service selected Alessandro Field, shortly after renamed March Field, for development.  The Miller family and March Field enjoyed a close relationship over the decades by hosting officers at the hotel, establishing the famous Fliers Wall in 1934, and showcasing celebrity pilots and aviators as honored hotel guests.

Each year, the Mission Inn Foundation reaches out beyond the walls of the National Historic Landmark Mission Inn to bring innovative enrichment programs to students in local schools.  By sponsoring the Up, Up and Away Event, you become a valuable partner in this much needed endeavor.
