Reproduction St. Francis Flier's Wall Medallion
Designed and distributed by the Mission Inn beginning in the 1930's, thousands of coin-like medallions were cast with a likeness of St. Francis. These medallions are still carried by air crews in combat and "birdmen" (pilots). The inscription on the medallion reads: "He giveth you your wings / to fly and breathe a purer / air on high and careth for / you every where, who for / yourselves so little care." These keepsake medallions depict a kneeling St. Francis in front of the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel on the front, and a Raincross on the back.
