Are you looking for ways to infuse your history, social studies, and ELA course content with locally based, primary sources? Hands on History classroom lesson plans are designed to engage your students in the history of Riverside and the Mission Inn through primary source analysis, development of academic vocabulary, individual and group assignments, discussions, and presentations. The plans are ideal for grades 3-12 and feature primary source documents and objects drawn from our extensive museum collection. These objects include artifacts and documents relating to the history of the Mission Inn, its founder Frank Miller, and the history of Riverside.
Our unique lesson plans have been created in cooperation with Riverside Unified School District curriculum development specialists and are aligned to the most recent California Common Core standards. The Curator of Education is available to hold educator workshops and classroom visits to help deliver our lesson plans to your students.
