Youth Ambassadors connects local high school students to the history of our community through volunteer and service opportunities. Students who complete the Youth Ambassador training program in good standing will have the opportunity to lead tours of the Mission Inn for elementary age children and families, assist with family-oriented programs, and participate in community-wide programs and events.

Recruitment for our next class of Youth Ambassadors will begin March 2018. Check back in March for the 2018-2019 Youth Ambassador Application.

Applicants should  be mature and dependable, have excellent people skills, and be interested in working with elementary–age  students and families. We will teach you everything you need to know to be a Youth Ambassador. No previous knowledge of the Mission Inn is required.

Youth Ambassadors attend training over a two week period during the summer to learn about local history and how to lead tours of the Mission Inn. Youth Ambassador volunteer duties begin in September and last through May. Typical shifts are approximately 2 hours and will take place on Sundays or on weekdays after school. Youth Ambassadors attend monthly meetings held the 2nd Monday of each month from 4:30-6pm. Activities will take place at the Mission Inn Museum unless otherwise noted.

Here's what some of our current and graduate Youth Ambassadors are saying about the program:

I joined this program because it's a great way to help the young community of Riverside learn the history of our city. It's always good to know more about your hometown!
     - Victoria F., 2013 Youth Ambassador

My favorite part of the program was the fact that I was surrounded by other Youth Ambassadors who were just as eager and enthusiastic to learn about Riverside's history.
     - Alison B., 2013 Youth Ambassador
What made orientation meaningful and effective for me was meeting new people. I think that has helped me get through the program with ease.
     - Steven G., 2014 Youth Ambassador
I decided to participate in Youth Ambassadors in order to learn about the rich history that makes up such a unique, beautiful and historic city.
     - Seda S., 2016 Youth Ambassador
